An international roaming pack from Jio or Vi keeps your Indian SIM registered on a network in Japan: incoming calls, bank and UPI OTPs and WhatsApp codes keep arriving on the number you already have. The operator apps want an Indian card or UPI; here you pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay in your own currency and the pack lands on the line in about a minute.

Most people who top up a number in India also visit. Data from the moment you land, and fares for the trip, from the same place.
Bank OTPs, banking apps and ID verification all need your home SIM active. A small recharge every validity cycle keeps it working while you're abroad.
Parents' phone out of balance? Recharge it from here with your card and they get it before you've closed the tab.
Same Slashtel account as your travel eSIM. One WhatsApp support line for both. Data without borders, in both directions.
Enter the number and we detect the operator automatically. Plans and amounts shown are live from the operator.
Balance codes, customer care numbers and how long each India number stays active are on the India recharge page and each operator page (Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL).
Pay with a card from any country. Top up numbers in India with a Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay or Google Pay issued anywhere (debit or credit; prepaid and gift cards are not accepted). UPI needs an Indian bank account, and many Indian recharge sites and apps decline cards issued abroad.
Country code +91: how to call India and its number format.
You can recharge an Indian number from Japan through Slashtel by entering the mobile number, picking a plan and paying by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Recharges start from $2.65, and Airtel, BSNL, Jio and Vi numbers are all supported. The number uses the country code 91 and has 10 digits, so you drop the leading zero.

You recharge an Indian number from Japan by opening Slashtel, entering the 10 digit mobile number, choosing a plan for Airtel, BSNL, Jio or Vi and paying by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The operator is detected from the number, so you do not need to know which network your family uses before you start.
A recharge reaches the phone directly. There is no voucher to forward and no shop visit, which matters when the person you are topping up is in India and you are in Japan.
Indian plans range from small data packs to monthly combos with unlimited calls. On this page the sample plans run from a Vi 6 GB data pack at 89 INR for 14 days to a Jio plan with unlimited calls and 1.5 GB per day at 299 INR for 28 days, so there is a fit for a short top-up or a full month.
BSNL has several options. A 20 GB Data Pack gives 105 INR for 7 days, 200 minutes with unlimited data gives 107 INR for 20 days, and unlimited calls with unlimited data appears at 147 INR for 25 days and 153 INR for 24 days. A 40 GB Data Pack is 198 INR for 30 days, unlimited calls with unlimited data is 219 INR for 28 days, and unlimited calls with 2.5 GB per day is 225 INR for 30 days.
Airtel and Vi both list unlimited calls with 2 GB at 199 INR for 28 days. Jio offers 10 GB with subscriptions to 10 OTT apps at 175 INR for 28 days, and unlimited calls with 1.5 GB per day at 299 INR for 28 days. There are 32 plans in total.
Where a plan is taxed, the amount shown is what lands after the operator's tax, so the data and calls you see are what the number actually receives.
An Indian number that sits unused can lapse, so a small recharge from Japan keeps it alive for calls, bank messages and one time passwords. A data pack or a short validity plan is often enough to hold the number open between visits home.
The plans here have clear validity periods in days, from 7 days up to 30 days. Recharging before the current pack runs out keeps the service continuous.
If the phone is mostly used for incoming codes, a smaller data pack may cover it. If family use it for calls and streaming, a monthly combo with unlimited calls and daily data is more useful. You choose each time, so the amount can change with what the month needs.
An Indian mobile number has 10 digits. The example here is 081234 56789 in national form and +91 81234 56789 in international form, so the leading zero is dropped when you add the country code 91. Enter only the 10 digit number on Slashtel and let the service handle the rest.
Mistakes usually come from the leading zero or from a landline number typed by habit. Check the digits against a recent message from your family before paying.
The operator is detected from the number, so the plan list adjusts to the right network. If the operator shown looks wrong, stop and recheck the digits rather than paying.
You pay in the checkout with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, so no Japanese bank transfer or Indian payment app is needed. Recharges start from $2.65, and the plan price is shown before you confirm, so you know the amount in full before any payment is taken.
Slashtel sends the top-up straight to the number. You do not need the recipient's phone in your hand, and you do not need their account details beyond the mobile number.
After payment, the recharge is applied to the Indian number. Keep the confirmation so you can check the plan against what your family sees on their phone.
Use Slashtel, enter the 10 digit Indian mobile number, choose a plan for Airtel, BSNL, Jio or Vi and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The operator is detected from the number and the top-up goes straight to the phone in India.
Yes. Airtel numbers are supported, including a plan with unlimited calls and 2 GB at 199 INR for 28 days. Enter the 10 digit number, check that Airtel is shown, then pay.
Enter the BSNL mobile number and pick from the BSNL plans listed, such as a 20 GB Data Pack at 105 INR for 7 days or unlimited calls with unlimited data at 219 INR for 28 days. Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
No. Enter only the 10 digit number, for example 81234 56789 without the leading zero. The country code 91 is handled for you, so you do not type the zero from the national form.
Recharges start from $2.65. The plan price is shown in the checkout before you confirm, so you see the full amount before paying by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Up to JPY 1,000: Vi Unlimited Calls + 4GB + 600SMS, 40 days ($5.97). Up to JPY 2,000: BSNL UL Calls + UL data, 72 days ($11.64). Up to JPY 5,000: Airtel UL Calls+2.5GB/Day, 84 days ($26.87). Converted at 158.33 JPY per $1 on 7 November 2026.

Vi, at about ₹52 per $1 on 7 November 2026, against ₹42 per $1 for BSNL.
India (New Delhi) is 3 hours 30 minutes behind Tokyo right now. Recharges are delivered around the clock, so the time of day does not matter.
Enter it with the country code +91. A number written locally as 081234 56789 becomes +91 81234 56789, so drop the leading 0 after the country code. Indian mobile numbers have 10 digits after the country code. The example is a format guide, not a real number.
Enter the number with the country code, pick a plan and pay by card. The operator is detected automatically and the credit goes straight to the phone. You do not need an account or a bank account in India.
Yes. Visa, Mastercard and other major debit and credit cards issued in Japan and most other countries are accepted.
Yes. Slashtel tops up any prepaid number in India, your own or a family member's. You only need the number; the person does not need an account.
Recharges are delivered instantly and cannot be reversed once they reach a valid number, so check the number before you pay. If the operator rejects the number, Slashtel resends or refunds you in full.
Prices on this page are in US dollars and include the Slashtel service fee. At checkout your card may be shown and charged in your local currency, and the exact amount is confirmed before you pay.
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe with 3D Secure where your bank supports it, and Slashtel never sees or stores your full card details.
Most recharges arrive within a few minutes. If the phone is switched off, the credit lands when it next connects. You get a confirmation email with your order reference.
If the operator rejects the recharge, we resend it. If it still can't be delivered, write to esim@slashtel.com or message us on WhatsApp with your order reference and we'll sort it out.
