An international roaming pack from Jio or Vi keeps your Indian SIM registered on a network in Australia: incoming calls, bank and UPI OTPs and WhatsApp codes keep arriving on the number you already have. The operator apps want an Indian card or UPI; here you pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay in your own currency and the pack lands on the line in about a minute.

Pay with a card from any country. Top up numbers in India with a Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay or Google Pay issued anywhere (debit or credit; prepaid and gift cards are not accepted). UPI needs an Indian bank account, and many Indian recharge sites and apps decline cards issued abroad.
Country code +91: how to call India and its number format.
You can recharge an Indian mobile from Australia online in a few minutes: pick the operator, enter the 10 digit number and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Top-ups start from $2.65, and Airtel, BSNL, Jio and Vi are all supported. For example, a BSNL 20 GB Data Pack at 105 INR runs for 7 days.

You recharge an Indian number from Australia by choosing the operator, entering the 10 digit mobile number and paying online. Slashtel sends the top up straight to the number, so your family in India needs to do nothing. The operator is detected from the number itself, and payment is by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
India numbers use the country code 91. A local number such as 081234 56789 becomes +91 81234 56789 when you write it in full, which is 10 digits once the leading zero is dropped.
The whole process takes a few minutes from Australia, and there is no need for the person in India to install anything or share a code with you.
Plan prices on this page range from 89 INR to 299 INR, shown as the amount that reaches the number. There are 32 plans across Airtel, BSNL, Jio and Vi, covering data only packs, call packs and combined packs. Validity runs from 7 days to 30 days, so short visits and full months are both covered.
Small data packs suit a phone that is mostly on wifi. Vi offers 6 GB for 14 days at 89 INR, and BSNL has a 20 GB Data Pack at 105 INR for 7 days. BSNL also lists a 40 GB Data Pack at 198 INR for 30 days for heavier data use.
For calls, BSNL has 200 minutes with unlimited data at 107 INR for 20 days, and unlimited calls with unlimited data at 147 INR for 25 days or 153 INR for 24 days. Combined packs include Airtel at 199 INR for 28 days with unlimited calls and 2 GB data, and Vi at 199 INR for the same 28 days with unlimited calls and 2 GB.
Jio lists 10 GB with subscriptions to 10 OTT apps at 175 INR for 28 days, and unlimited calls with 1.5 GB per day at 299 INR for 28 days. BSNL has unlimited calls with 2.5 GB per day at 225 INR for 30 days. Where a plan is taxed, the amount shown is what lands after the operator's tax, so the number receives the full figure.
A top up keeps an Indian number alive while the phone itself sits in Australia or with family in India. Choose a plan with a validity that matches how often you send credit, and the number stays in use between visits. Data and call packs also mean the phone works the moment someone lands in India.
Many people in Australia keep an Indian number for bank codes, family calls and app logins. A plan with 28 or 30 days of validity covers a full month, while the shorter 7, 14, 20 and 24 day options suit a one off need.
If the number is used mainly to receive messages, a data pack such as the BSNL 40 GB Data Pack at 198 INR for 30 days or the Vi 6 GB pack at 89 INR for 14 days may be enough. If family in India use the phone for calls, an unlimited calls pack makes more sense.
Enter the Indian mobile number as 10 digits without the leading zero, and Slashtel detects the operator from it. The full international form uses the country code 91, so 081234 56789 becomes +91 81234 56789. A wrong digit sends the top up to someone else, so check it before paying.
The leading zero is only for dialling inside India. Drop it when you enter the number for a top up from Australia.
Check the operator shown against the phone you are topping up. If the detected operator does not match, correct the number rather than paying, because the top up follows the number and operator shown at checkout.
Top ups start from $2.65, and you pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay from Australia. The plan amount you see is the value that reaches the number in India. There are 32 plans listed, with prices checked on 29 October 2026.
Prices are shown in the plan list in INR, the amount the operator credits to the number. Where a plan is taxed, the figure shown is already the amount that lands after the operator's tax.
There is no need for an Indian bank account or a local payment app. Pay in the checkout with the card or wallet you already use in Australia, and the top up is sent to the number once payment is confirmed.
If a top up does not arrive, contact support with the number and plan details so the order can be checked with the operator.
Choose India, enter the 10 digit mobile number, pick a plan and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Slashtel detects the operator from the number and sends the top up straight to it. Top ups start from $2.65.
Yes. Airtel is one of the supported operators, alongside BSNL, Jio and Vi. Enter the Airtel number, check that Airtel is shown, then choose a plan such as unlimited calls with 2 GB data at 199 INR for 28 days.

The full international form is +91 followed by the 10 digit number, so 081234 56789 becomes +91 81234 56789. When entering the number for a top up, use the 10 digits and drop the leading zero.
Top ups start from $2.65. Plans on the page range from 89 INR to 299 INR, and where a plan is taxed the amount shown is what lands after the operator's tax. There are 32 plans with validity from 7 to 30 days.
