A few of the BSNL plans are built around calls and data together. Unlimited calls with unlimited data comes at Rs 147 for 25 days, Rs 153 for 24 days and Rs 219 for 28 days. Unlimited calls with 2.5GB per day is Rs 225 for 30 days.
The amount shown for each plan is the value that lands on the handset after any operator tax is applied, so the figure you see is the useful one.
All eight plans are listed on this page on 29 October 2026, and each shows its own validity in days. Pick by how long the family member needs the number covered: a week for a short gap, 30 days or more for a regular monthly recharge.
The number needs to be in international format with the 91 dialling code and no leading zero. An Indian mobile is 10 digits, so an example national number is 081234 56789 and the same number entered for a top up is +91 81234 56789. Dropping the zero and keeping the code is the whole job.
If the form rejects the number, the usual cause is an extra digit or a leftover zero. Compare what you typed against a number a family member confirms, then correct it before paying.
The operator is read from the number, so a correct entry shows BSNL and the right set of plans. If a different operator appears, the number was typed wrongly.
A BSNL top up can fail for simple reasons: a mistyped number, a rejected card, or a mobile service that is not currently active. Check the number first, then the payment, then ask the person in India whether the handset is connected and ready to receive a recharge. Retry once the cause is clear.
Do not send a second top up while the first is still being processed, as the same plans could land twice.
If the top up does go through but the person in India sees nothing immediately, ask them to switch the phone off and on and check again after a short wait.
