Jio sells international roaming on prepaid through named pack families, each built around a destination count. The Voice and data (75 countries) family offers three options: 1 day with 1GB and 100 call minutes, 10 days with 10GB and 1000 minutes plus 1GB per day, 100 minutes per day and 100 SMS per day with in-flight benefits, and 30 days with 15GB, 1500 minutes and in-flight benefits. The Data only family carries no calls: 1GB or 5GB over 7 days, 2GB or 8GB over 14 days, and 10GB over 21 days. The Voice and data (100 countries) family runs from 10 days with 4GB and 200 minutes to 30 days with 30GB and 400 minutes; that top option gives 30GB at high speed, then unlimited data at up to 64 kbps, free incoming calls and SMS and in-flight benefits. The Voice and data (132 countries) family includes 2GB and 100 minutes over 14 days, 5GB and 200 minutes over 30 days with in-flight benefits, and an annual 365 day pack with 3GB and 100 minutes. The listed destinations for these packs include Dubai (UAE), the USA, the UK, Thailand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Qatar, Canada and Australia. Jio states that roaming is available in 160+ countries overall.
On prepaid, roaming activates automatically when you recharge with an IR pack, and the pack starts on first usage at the foreign location. You can also switch roaming on or off in the MyJio app under International services. Incoming text messages are free. Packs have a fixed validity and expire when it ends, so there is nothing to deactivate on return. If a prepaid pack expires abroad and you do not recharge, usage is charged at pay-as-you-go rates from your available balance. On postpaid, once a pack's data is used up, speed drops to 64 kbps until the pack expires; without a pack, standard pay-as-you-go rates for the visited country apply. The Wi-Fi Calling pack used abroad covers outgoing calls to Indian mobile numbers, incoming calls from anywhere and incoming SMS, but not outgoing SMS or local calls in the visited country.
A data-only eSIM carries mobile data and has no phone number. Keeping the Jio SIM active alongside it leaves calls, texts and bank codes on your home number, while the eSIM handles data on local networks.
