Is now a good time to book? Every route we track, scored against its own usual fare. 100 is usual, under 85 is a good time to book. Checked 2 November 2026.
Flight deals that help you save and keep watch. We show live fares and send price alerts; we do not sell flights. When a fare suits you, you book it directly with the airline or travel site.

How it works: for each route we take the cheapest one-way fare per person in each of the next 12 departure months, from fares other travellers found and our own daily checks. The usual fare is the middle of those 12 months. The index compares the best fare in the next three months with that usual fare. Fares change quickly and are confirmed only when you book.

Quick answer

Use the Slashtel Fare Index to see if now is a good time to book flights: a score of 85 or under means it is a good time to book, while over 105 suggests waiting if you can. Scores come from our own daily fare checks, saved every day since 31 October 2026, and are recalculated every day.

What the Slashtel Fare Index measures

The Fare Index compares the lowest fare we find on a route for the next three months with that route's usual fare. One score per route tells you, at a glance, whether fares are running low, around normal, or higher than usual. It helps you decide whether to book now or wait.

Each route gets a single number. Below 100 means the fares we are seeing are under the route's usual level. Above 100 means they are over it. The score does not use an airline, cabin class or passenger profile. It looks at the lowest fares found on the route as a whole.

The score is a guide, not a promise. Fares move constantly, so treat the number as a starting point for your decision, not a guarantee of what you will pay.

How to use it:

  1. Find your route and read its score.
  2. Compare the score against the bands below.
  3. Check the live fare calendar on this page to see this month's lowest fares.
  4. Set a price alert for your dates.
  5. Book when the score and the live fares both point to booking.

How we calculate it

The score is worked out from the lowest fare found for departures in the next three months, divided by the route's usual fare, times 100. The usual fare is the median of the lowest fare in each of the next 12 months. The result is recalculated every day.

We run our own daily fare checks on each route, saved every day since 31 October 2026. That history gives us the usual fare for a route. Comparing it with current fares for the next three months shows whether fares are running ahead of or behind normal.

Because the score is rebuilt daily from fresh searches, it reacts quickly to changes. A route can move from below normal to above normal in a short time. Read the score together with the live fare calendar for your specific dates.

How to read the score

A score of 85 or under means it is a good time to book. A score of 86 to 105 means fares are around the usual price. Over 105 means fares are above usual and it is worth waiting if you can. These bands are fixed for every route so scores stay comparable.

Use the bands as a simple rule. If your route sits at or below 85, the fares we are finding are low for the route and waiting is unlikely to help much. Between 86 and 105, you are close to normal, so choose your dates carefully rather than holding out for a big drop.

Over 105, fares are running above the route's usual level. If your plans are flexible, waiting may pay off. If you must travel on fixed dates, look at nearby departures and use alerts to catch any falls.

Why some routes have no score yet

A route needs prices for at least 4 months before it gets a score. Several routes have less history than that, so no score appears on them yet. We hold off until there is enough data for the usual fare to mean something rather than guess.

We started saving our daily fare checks on 31 October 2026. Routes added more recently have fewer months of saved fares behind them. Until a route reaches 4 months of data, we leave the score blank rather than publish a figure built on too little history.

If your route has no score, you can still use the live fare calendar on this page to see this month's lowest fares. Price alerts work on those routes too.

Using the index with price alerts

The index shows the state of a route; price alerts watch your exact dates and route. Set an alert for the fares you are watching and use the score to decide how much patience to apply. The score is recalculated every day, so check it again before you book.

A high score does not mean every date is expensive, so set an alert rather than assuming. When a match appears, compare the live fare calendar on this page to see this month's lowest fares and confirm that your chosen dates are practical.

Fares are the lowest found in recent searches and change constantly. The score is a guide, not a promise, and prices are confirmed only when you book.
