A Movistar Mexico recharge from abroad is a direct top-up sent to the Mexican number, not to your own account. You enter the number, choose a plan, pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the balance or bundle lands on that phone within minutes. The operator is detected from the number itself, so there is no network to select by hand.
Mexican mobile numbers use 10 digits after the country code 52. The number example above keeps the same grouping whether you type it nationally or internationally. There is no leading zero to drop.
If you are sending to family in Mexico, the phone is theirs and the balance sits on their line. If you are keeping a Mexican number alive while you live abroad, the top-up keeps that line active for calls and messages.
Movistar Mexico offers two kinds of top-up. The first is a straight recharge in Mexican pesos, from MX$20 up to MX$500, where the amount you pick is the amount that lands. The second is a bundle in US dollars that adds data plus unlimited calls and SMS for 30 days.
The recharge amounts land as MX$20, MX$40, MX$60, MX$80, MX$90, MX$120, MX$200 or MX$500 on the phone. These are airtime values rather than data packages, and none of them carries a validity period in the plan data.
The bundles are different. The 1.15GB data + UL calls and SMS bundle lands 7.5, the 1.5 GB data + UL calls and SMS bundle lands 11, the 8GB data + UL call and SMS bundle lands 16.5, the 12GB Data +Unlimited calls/SMS bundle lands 20, and the Unlimited data/calls/SMS bundle lands 22. Each of these is valid for 30 days.
None of the plans listed here includes international roaming, so treat them as use within Mexico.
The number must be the Mexican mobile line you want to credit, written with its 10 digits. You can type it as 222 123 4567 or as +52 222 123 4567. The country code for Mexico is 52, and the operator is read from the number you enter.
Do not add a leading zero. Mexican mobile numbers in this format do not use one, and adding digits changes the number you are trying to reach.
Check the digits once more before paying. A single wrong digit can send the top-up to a different line, and once it lands on a live number it cannot be pulled back.
Most top-ups complete in minutes. If the balance has not appeared, first confirm the number was entered correctly and that the phone is switched on and connected. Then check whether the operator shown at checkout matched Movistar.
A number that has been inactive for a long period, or one that has been ported to another network, can cause a delay or a failure. In that case the payment is not completed against the line.
If the top-up still has not arrived, keep the order details and the number you sent to, and raise it with the service you bought from. Delivery is normally quick, so a wait of more than a short while is worth querying.
Payment is by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the operator is detected from the number before you pay. The amount shown at checkout is the amount that lands on the phone, with no separate tax added on top for these Movistar plans.
Because the top-up goes straight to the Mexican number, there is no account for the recipient to set up and no code for them to enter. The balance simply appears on the line.
Keep your payment confirmation. It is the record of what you sent, to which number, and when, and it is what you would need if anything has to be checked afterwards.
Enter the Mexican mobile number as 10 digits such as 222 123 4567, or as +52 222 123 4567. Movistar is detected from the number. Choose a recharge or bundle, pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and it lands on the phone in minutes.
The smallest recharge is MX$20, which lands as MX$20 on the phone. Larger recharges go up to MX$500. Bundles are separate and start with 1.15GB data + UL calls and SMS, valid for 30 days.
You can enter the number either way. The 10 digit national form, such as 222 123 4567, works, and so does the international form +52 222 123 4567. Mexico uses country code 52 and there is no leading zero to drop.
Delivery normally completes within minutes of payment. If the balance has not appeared, check that the number was entered correctly, that the operator shown was Movistar, and that the phone is switched on and connected.
Yes. The top-up is sent to the Mexican number you enter, so it can be a family member's line in Mexico or your own number kept active while you live abroad. The balance simply appears on that phone.
Enter it with the country code +52. A number written locally as 222 123 4567 becomes +52 222 123 4567. Mexican mobile numbers have 10 digits after the country code. The example is a format guide, not a real number.
Enter the number with the country code, pick a plan and pay by card. The operator is detected automatically and the credit goes straight to the phone. You do not need an account or a bank account in Mexico.
Plans currently start from $3.20 and go up to $62.82, including our service fee. The exact price is shown before you pay, with no extra charges at checkout.

Most recharges arrive within a few minutes. If the phone is switched off, the credit lands when it next connects. You get a confirmation email with your order reference.
If the operator rejects the recharge, we resend it. If it still can't be delivered, write to esim@slashtel.com or message us on WhatsApp with your order reference and we'll sort it out.
