You can send a Claro Peru top up from anywhere by entering the Peruvian mobile number, picking a data plan or airtime amount, and paying online. No app, bank branch or voucher is needed, and the recharge goes straight to the number. Claro top ups start from $6.46, and the operator is detected from the number itself.
The person receiving the top up does not need to do anything. The balance or data lands on the Claro line you name, whether that is a family member in Lima or a friend elsewhere in Peru.
Here is the process.
This works the same way whether you are in the UK, elsewhere in Europe or anywhere with an internet connection.
Claro Peru offers two kinds of top up: data plans with a set validity period, and plain airtime in fixed amounts. The amount shown for each option is what lands on the phone, so you know exactly what the person receives before you pay.
Data plans come with a validity window, and the data is meant to be used within it. The range is 200MB Data valid for 2 days, 650MB data valid for 5 days, 1.5GB data valid for 10 days, 3GB Data valid for 20 days and 4.5GB Data valid for 30 days. A short plan suits someone who needs a few days of connection; a 30 day plan suits a month of regular use.
Airtime comes in fixed amounts and has no validity period shown, so it simply adds balance to the Claro line. The airtime options range from the smallest amount up to larger ones, which is useful when the person prefers to choose their own package or needs balance for calls.
None of the Claro Peru options listed here are taxed, so the amount shown is the full amount that lands. Where a plan is subject to an operator tax, the figure shown is what arrives after that tax has been applied.
A Claro Peru mobile number has 9 digits, and you should not drop any leading digit. You can type it in national form such as 912 345 678 or with the country code in international form such as +51 912 345 678. Get these digits right and the recharge is routed to the correct Claro line.
Peru uses the dial code 51, and the example number 912 345 678 shows the national shape. If you copy a number from a message, remove any spaces or punctuation and check the digit count before you pay. Nine digits is the standard to look for.
Do not add or remove a zero at the start. The number should be entered as the family member gives it to you, and the operator is then detected automatically as Claro. If the number belongs to Movistar, Entel or Bitel instead, it will not be treated as a Claro top up.
Most failed Claro top ups come from a mistyped number rather than a problem with the payment. Check the 9 digits, confirm the line is Claro, and look at your payment confirmation before trying again. If the payment was declined, use another card or payment method and retry the order.
A recharge can also fail if the number is inactive or has been ported to another operator. In that case the operator detection will not match Claro, and the top up will not be applied. Ask the recipient to confirm the number is still active with Claro.
If money left your account but the top up did not appear, contact support with the order confirmation and the number you entered. Do not send the same top up repeatedly while a case is open, because duplicate recharges can land twice.
Payment is made online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the top up is sent straight to the Claro number you entered. There is no need to share bank details with the recipient, and you see the amount that will land before you confirm the order.
Paying by card keeps a record you can check later. Apple Pay and Google Pay work in the same way and keep card details on your device rather than typing them each time. The total you see at checkout is the total you pay for the Claro top up.
Use the number exactly as the family member gives it, and keep the confirmation message. That record is the quickest way to sort out any question about a Claro recharge from abroad.

Enter it with the country code +51. A number written locally as 912 345 678 becomes +51 912 345 678. Peruvian mobile numbers have 9 digits after the country code. The example is a format guide, not a real number.
Enter the number with the country code, pick a plan and pay by card. The operator is detected automatically and the credit goes straight to the phone. You do not need an account or a bank account in Peru.
