Top up a Telecel Ghana number from abroad by entering the mobile number on Slashtel, picking airtime or a data bundle, and paying by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The operator is detected from the number, so there is no network to select by hand. The credit goes straight to the number you entered, not to an account you have to manage.
The whole process is done online from the UK or anywhere else. You do not need a Ghanaian bank account, a local card or a shop that sells Telecel credit.
Prices on this page start from $5.47. The page was last checked on 29 October 2026, so the plans shown reflect that check.
Telecel Ghana Data bundles start at 990 MB for GHS 10 with 15 days validity and go up to 250 GB for GHS 400. Airtime is available as a top-up of GHS 75.55. Every plan on this page is untaxed, so the data amount shown is the amount that lands on the phone.
The smaller data bundles suit a short period: 990 MB lasts 15 days, and 2.5GB lasts 5 days. The 2.4 GB bundle costs GHS 20 and lasts 30 days, which suits a light monthly user.
Mid range bundles are 6 GB for GHS 50 and 12.6 GB for GHS 100, both with 30 days validity. The larger bundles are 33GB for GHS 200, 99GB for GHS 300 and 250 GB for GHS 400. These three larger bundles have no validity period listed in the plan data.
The airtime line lets the person in Ghana decide how to spend the credit. Airtime and data are separate lines, so pick the one that matches how your family member uses the phone.
Ghana uses the dial code 233. A Telecel number has 9 digits after the country code, and the leading zero is dropped. For example, 023 123 4567 becomes +233 23 123 4567. Entering the number in this form lets Slashtel detect Telecel and route the top-up to the right line.
The most common mistake is keeping the leading zero. If you type the number as it is written locally, the order may fail or be routed incorrectly. Remove the zero after 233.
Check the digits once more before you pay. A top-up sent to a wrong number cannot be recalled, so confirm the number with the person in Ghana if you are unsure. The operator is detected from the number, so a correct Telecel number will show Telecel Ghana on the order screen.
Most failed top-ups come from a wrong number, a card that your bank declined, or a temporary problem at the operator. Check the number first, then try the payment again. If the order is still pending, wait before repeating it so you do not send the same top-up twice.
If your bank declines the card, try another card or use Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your bank may block the first international payment as a security step, and a quick call to them usually clears it.
If the order shows as completed but the credit has not arrived, ask the person in Ghana to restart the phone and check the balance again. Data bundles can take a short time to appear. Keep your order confirmation so you can refer to it.
Slashtel takes payment by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the top-up goes straight to the number you entered. You do not share a password or PIN with the person receiving the credit, and you do not need to send card details by message. Pay on the order page only.
Use a card in your own name and keep the confirmation of each order. If you top up the same number regularly, the saved number makes repeat orders quicker and reduces typing errors.
Only send top-ups to numbers you know. Airtime and data are delivered to the number, so check it carefully before paying. If something looks wrong on the order screen, stop and check the number before you complete payment.
