How to Find Your eSIM Number (EID, ICCID and Phone Number)

To find your eSIM number, first decide which one you need. The EID is the 32 digit number of the eSIM chip, the ICCID is the number of one SIM or eSIM profile, and the phone number belongs to a plan. On iPhone, Settings, then General, then About shows the EID and the ICCID for each line.

Which number do you need

There are three different numbers people call an eSIM number, and they are not interchangeable. The EID is the 32 digit number of the eSIM chip, the ICCID is the number of one SIM or eSIM profile, and the phone number belongs to a plan. Knowing which one you need saves time.

Use the EID when a provider or support agent asks for the eSIM chip itself. Use the ICCID when you need to identify one specific SIM or eSIM profile, for example when checking which line is active. Use the phone number when you need to give someone a number to call or text.

A single phone can hold one EID and several ICCIDs, because each line has its own profile. That is why the same handset can show one EID but two or more ICCIDs.

Find the EID

*The EID is the 32 digit number of the eSIM chip. On iPhone, Settings, then General, then About shows the EID. You can also dial #06# to show the IMEI and, on eSIM capable phones, the EID.

On iPhone:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap General.
3. Tap About.
4. Scroll to EID and note the 32 digit number.

On Android, these details are usually under Settings, then About phone, and sometimes in SIM status. The exact location varies by maker, so the wording and the number of taps can differ between phones.

Dialling *#06# is a quick alternative. It shows the IMEI and, on eSIM capable phones, the EID. If you are not sure your phone can use an eSIM at all, it is worth checking before you buy a plan, so you can check your phone supports eSIM.

Find the ICCID of an eSIM

The ICCID is the number of one SIM or eSIM profile. On iPhone, Settings, then General, then About shows the ICCID for each line. On Android these are usually under Settings, then About phone, sometimes in SIM status.

On iPhone:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap General.
3. Tap About.
4. Scroll to the line you want and note its ICCID.

If you have more than one line, each one has its own ICCID, so check you are reading the right entry. On Android, look under Settings, then About phone, and sometimes in SIM status. The location varies by maker, so if you cannot see it in one place, check the other.

Find the phone number on an eSIM

The phone number belongs to a plan, not to the eSIM chip. On iPhone, the phone number for each line is shown in Settings under Mobile Service in the UK or Cellular in the US. The menu name differs by country.

On iPhone:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Mobile Service in the UK, or Cellular in the US.
3. Tap the line you want.
4. Read the phone number shown for that line.

On Android, these details are usually under Settings, then About phone, and sometimes in SIM status. The location varies by maker, so the wording can be different on your handset.

If a line shows no phone number, that is normal for a data only plan. The number comes from the plan, so a plan without calls and texts will not have one to show.

Travel eSIMs and phone numbers

A travel data eSIM has no phone number; it only has an ICCID. That is because the number belongs to a plan, and a data only travel eSIM is not sold with one. You still get the data you paid for.

This surprises people who expect every SIM to come with a number. A travel data eSIM is built for data, so there is nothing to call or text from, and no number appears in your settings for that line.

When you are asked for an eSIM number for a travel data eSIM, the ICCID is usually the one that matters. Keep it handy, because it identifies the profile even when there is no phone number attached to it.
