+351 country code: Portugal

Who uses +351

+351 is the country code for Portugal, the only country listed on this page. The country's official name is the Portuguese Republic and its ISO code is PT. People and businesses in Portugal use +351 numbers, and callers from outside the country dial the code before the local number.

Portugal, its capital and currency

Portugal sits in Southern Europe, in the continent of Europe. Its capital is Lisbon. The official language is Portuguese, and the currency is the Euro. The demonym for the country is Portuguese. The country has three time zones: Atlantic/Azores at UTC-01:00, Atlantic/Madeira at UTC+00:00, and Europe/Lisbon at UTC+00:00.

What a +351 mobile number looks like

A Portuguese mobile number written in international format appears as +351 912 345 678. The +351 code comes first, followed by the subscriber number. Use this layout when you store or share a number for a contact in Portugal.

Calling and messaging +351 numbers over the internet

You can call or message a +351 number using a data connection rather than a standard mobile line. A voice or messaging app on a phone, tablet or computer connects over Wi-Fi or mobile data and reaches the Portuguese number you want. This approach works for reaching contacts in Lisbon and elsewhere in Portugal, and for staying in touch with Portuguese numbers while you are outside the country.

Sending top-ups to Portuguese operators

Slashtel sends prepaid mobile top-ups to three operators in Portugal: MEO, NOS and Vodafone. If you want to top up a Portugal number, choose the operator, enter the number and complete the prepaid top-up. This suits people who want to add credit to a Portuguese prepaid line for a contact in Portugal, or for their own number while travelling.

The +351 code is tied to Portugal alone, so a number beginning with +351 belongs to a Portuguese line. The country uses the Euro, and its capital is Lisbon, where the Europe/Lisbon time zone at UTC+00:00 applies. Portuguese is the language used for numbers and contacts in the country. When you save a Portuguese mobile number, keep the +351 prefix and the format shown above so the number stays usable across apps and devices. Internet calling and messaging let you reach +351 numbers over a data connection, and Slashtel prepaid top-ups support MEO, NOS and Vodafone lines in Portugal.
