Slashtel sends a Nepal Telecom recharge straight to the number, paid by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You pick the amount, confirm the number and the credit goes to the phone. The operator is detected from the number, so you do not choose it yourself. Recharges start from $2.53.
The whole process takes a few minutes, and you can do it from any country. Nepal Telecom is one of two mobile operators in Nepal, the other being Ncell, so make sure the number you enter belongs to Nepal Telecom before you pay.
Nepal Telecom recharges come in eight amounts: NPR 144, NPR 200, NPR 240, NPR 300, NPR 335, NPR 500, NPR 1,000 and NPR 3,000. Each one delivers the full amount shown to the phone. None of these plans is taxed, so the figure you choose is the figure that lands.
Pick the amount that suits how much your family member uses the phone. A smaller sum covers a short period of calls, while NPR 1,000 or NPR 3,000 suits someone who uses data or calls often and would rather not run out. Every amount is a straight recharge, so the credit sits on the account for the person to use as they wish.
The amounts are listed in Nepali rupees because that is the currency the phone account uses. You pay in your own currency at checkout, with the starting price shown as $2.53.
A Nepal Telecom mobile number has 10 digits, for example 984-1234567. In international form it is written +977 984 1234567. The country code for Nepal is 977. You do not drop a leading zero, because the national number does not begin with one.
Enter the 10 digits as they appear on the phone. If you have the number written with spaces or hyphens, that is fine, but check each digit against what your family member told you. A single wrong digit can send the credit to a different person.
The operator is detected from the number you type, so the page will show Nepal Telecom once the number is recognised. If it shows Ncell instead, the number belongs to the other operator and you should check it before going further.
Most top-ups complete without trouble, but a number that is mistyped or inactive can stop an order. Check the 10 digits first, then confirm with your family member that the Nepal Telecom line is active. If the order still does not complete, contact Slashtel support with the order details.
A common cause is a number entered with the country code in the wrong place. The number field expects the 10 digit national number, so keep 977 out of it. Another cause is a line that has been inactive for a long time, which the operator may block from receiving credit.
If you are unsure whether the number is Nepal Telecom or Ncell, ask the person you are topping up. Nepal is served by these two operators, and a recharge sent to the wrong one will not arrive.
Payment is taken by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay at the end of the order. You see the amount before you confirm, and the recharge goes to the number you entered. Slashtel does not ask for the recipient's bank details or any password.
Keep the order confirmation for your records. It shows the number, the amount and the time of the recharge, which is useful if you need to check anything later. Never share card details with anyone who contacts you asking for them.
Once the credit reaches the Nepal Telecom line, it is on the account for your family member to use.
